Several French government institutions have been subjected to cyber attacks since with an ‘ unprecedented intensity’, as Agence France-Presse learned on Monday from the government, and many hackers-especially pro-Russian ones-claimed responsibility for them.
Hacking groups claimed responsibility for these attacks on Telegram, among them the pro-Russian group ‘Anonymous Sudan’ and several Islamic causes.
The hackers announced a ‘large-scale cyber attack’ targeting especially the ministries of economy, culture, environmental transformation, the prime minister’s office or the Directorate of Civil Aviation.
But a security source said the attacks were ‘not attributed to the Russians at this stage. However, a source close to the file told AFP that anonymous Sudan’s claim of responsibility was credible, while another security source called for caution.
The Prime Minister’s Office, which has set up a ‘crisis cell to take countermeasures’. said that since yesterday evening, several government interests have been subjected to information attacks using classic technical methods, but at an unprecedented speed.
Many ministerial services, such as the Ministry of Labour, were affected by these attacks.
